FAQ’s
What are dermal fillers?
The most popular dermal fillers used today are made of a material using hyaluronic acid-based products. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are non-permanent, meaning that they are reabsorbed into the body over time.
What brand of filler do you use?
With our many years of experience in the industry we have tried and tested many dermal filler brands. We use a variety of UK CA/CE approved fillers depending on the individual, all dermal fillers that we use are highly regarded on the market and leave long lasting, amazing results.
What does the dermal filler procedure involve?
1. Consultation: Before undergoing any treatment, patients will have an initial consultation with one of our practitioners. During this meeting, the practitioner will discuss the patient’s aesthetic goals, assess their facial structure and any skin conditions, and determine if they are suitable candidates for dermal fillers. This is also an opportunity for patients to ask questions and express any concerns they may have.
2. Preparation: On the day of the treatment, patients are advised to arrive with a clean face and free from makeup. To maximise comfort during the procedure, a topical anaesthetic will be applied to numb the targeted areas where fillers will be injected. This helps minimize any discomfort associated with the injections.
3. Injection Process: Using a fine needle or cannula, the practitioner will inject the dermal filler into specific areas of the face. The depth of injection can vary depending on the area being treated; it may be administered at mid or deep levels within the skin. The amount of filler used will depend on individual needs and desired outcomes.
4. Immediate Results: Patients can expect to see immediate results following their treatment as fillers add volume and smooth out wrinkles or lines in real-time. However, full effects may develop over several days as any swelling subsides.
5. Aftercare Instructions: After receiving dermal fillers, patients will be given aftercare instructions to ensure optimal healing and results. Common recommendations include avoiding strenuous exercise for 24 hours, refraining from massaging or manipulating treated areas for a few days, and avoiding extreme temperatures (both hot and cold) for a short period post-treatment.
6. Follow-Up Appointment: A follow-up visit may be scheduled within 1- 2 weeks after treatment to assess results and make any necessary adjustments if required.
Overall, dermal filler procedures are designed to enhance natural beauty while providing immediate improvements in appearance with minimal downtime.
How painful are the dermal filler injections?
Dermal filler injections are generally not very painful for most patients. The discomfort experienced is often described as mild or similar to a small pinch. Many dermal fillers contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic that helps numb the area during the procedure, significantly reducing pain.
How long does the dermal fillers last?
Typically, most fillers last around six to nine months, with the exact time depending on the area applied and the individual patient, as some patients’ bodies break down fillers faster than others.
